My dad burnt my property for accepting Jesus —Senator Binta

The senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the Senate, Mrs.  Binta Masi Garba, on Sunday narrated how all that she had were set ablaze by her biological father after she gave her life to Jesus Christ. She spoke during a thanksgiving service organised to mark her 50th birthday at the Chapel of Praise International Church, Yola on Sunday. Binta, who broke down in tears during the service, said God made it possible for her to become a cornerstone after the deprivation and rejection she suffered after accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. She said, “I gave my life to Christ when I was in primary school. My father was infuriated and he burnt everything I had because of my decision to follow Christ. I suffered so much because of the name of Jesus. I would have been nothing if not for His grace. The rejected child, because of my faith, has become a cornerstone. Policemen threaten to frame journalists, collect N10,000 bribe

Policemen attached to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Imo State Police Command, have been accused of collecting a N10,000 bribe from some journalists. The operatives, led by one Inspector Uche, reportedly collected the money under duress, threatening to frame the journalists if they failed to give the bribe. A photo of the alleged bribe, which had gone viral on the social media, revealed a policeman at the back seat of a vehicle collecting what appeared like wads of N1,000 notes from one of the victims. Wexeres gathered that the victims were members of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria and had attended the association’s convention at the Trade and Investment Centre, Owerri, between March 30 and 31. Soldiers beat 27-year-old man to death in Taraba

Some soldiers attached to the Joint Task Force in Taraba State, codenamed, Operation Ayem Akpatuma (Cat Race) have allegedly beaten a 27-year-old man, Yusufa Haruna, to death at Mbamga, in the Sarduana Local Government Area of the state. The deceased’s father, Mr. Haruna Kurkal, told journalists in Jalingo on Monday that trouble started after his son had a misunderstanding with his girlfriend which resulted in a fight between them. According to him, the girl’s parents reported the issue to the village head, Jauro Abubakar, who asked the Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Bangari, to report the case to soldiers. He explained that the soldiers, on receipt of the complaint, stormed the house to look for him and his son.
