BREAKING: JAMB releases 2019 UTME results

The Joint Admission and M atriculation Board has released the results of the 2019 UTME. This was confirmed to  PUNCH Online  on Saturday by the Board’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dr. Fabian Benjamin. The 2019 UTME was held from April 11 to April 18, with over 1.8 million registered candidates. When called to know if all the results have been released, or if they will be released in batches because of the issues surrounding the conduct of the examination, Benjamin said he was in a meeting and that our Correspondent should call later.

Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman to play Africa’s first Samurai in ‘Yasuke’

‘Black Panther’ star, Chadwick Boseman will produce and star as Japan’s first African samurai in the historical film, ‘Yasuke’. News Agency of Nigeria  reports that Boseman gained global recognition as T’Challa in the Marvel flick and is known for portraying strong, iconic black characters in films. Speaking on the movie, Boseman said, “The legend of Yasuke is one of history’s best-kept secrets, the only person of non-Asian origin to become a samurai. “That’s not just an action movie, that’s a cultural event, an exchange, and I am excited to be part of it.” According to legends, in the 1500s, a man of African descent was accepted as the first-ever black Samurai. Dubbed “Yasuke” by the Japanese warlord, Oda Nobunaga, the soon-to-be-iconic samurai fought for Nobunaga’s army from 1581-1582. Comic actor, Francis Odega, was in the news early this week as he was seen in a viral video where he allegedly threw his wife and her sister out of his house. In the video, the actor threatened to stab his wife, adding that he didn’t care if he would be sent to jail after that. Also, while his sister-in-law mentioned that he had once stabbed his wife, the actor simply confirmed it, stating that he would do it again. Tiwa Savage signs deal with Universal Music Group

Nigerian singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage has signed an international recording deal with Universal Music Group. UMG is an American global  music  corporation and is the world leader in music-based entertainment. The group announced through their official Instagram account that they were “thrilled to welcome Tiwa Savage, one of Africa’s biggest stars to the Universal Music Group Family”. They said that under the agreement, signed on Thursday, Savage’s future music will be released internationally through UMG’s operations in more than 60 countries worldwide and projects would be executively produced by Efe Ogbeni and Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna of Stealth Management. The Chief Executive Officer of Mavin Records, Micheal Collins, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has sent his farewell message to singer, Tiwa Savage, as she exits the group. Savage, who just signed a deal with Universal Music Group on Thursday was associated with Mavin Records for seven years, having joined in 2012. Game of Thrones   star, Sophie Turner, has wedded Joe Jonas, whom she started dating in November 2016. The 23-year-old English actress made her professional acting debut as Sansa Stark in the HBO fantasy television series  Game of Thrones which started running in 2011. The 29-year-old Jonas is an American singer and songwriter, as well as a member of Pop Rock band that include his biological brothers, Kevin and Nick.
