APC Campaign Coordinator Found Dead Hours After Abduction

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Coordinator in Ahoada-West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chisom Lennard, has been found d€ad hours after he was abducted.   According to PUNCH, Lennard was kidnapped by the gunmen dressed in police uniform while voting for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections was ongoing at Ibagwa polling unit 2 ward 10 in Ahoada West LGA.   It was gathered that the APC chieftain tried to stop the gunmen from snatching election materials when he was whisked away in a commando fashion. The Independent National Electoral Commission has presented the Certificates of Return to the winner of the 2023 presidential election held on February 25, Bola Tinubu, and his vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima. Finnish Police Arrest Biafra Separatist Leader Simon Ekpa

The Finnish Police has reportedly arrested the pro-Biafran separatist agitator, Simon Ekpa, over his threats of no elections in Nigeria. Ekpa had threatened that any person in the South-Eastern Part of the Nigeria who tried to participate or vote in the 2023 elections scheduled to hold on Saturday February 25 would be ruthlessly dealt with. Eight students travelling home for election die in Ebonyi car crash

Eight students of Madonna University in Rivers state have reportedly been burnt to death in a road accident. The incident was said to have occurred along the Trans-Saharan road in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state, on Saturday while the students were travelling to Taraba state. It is understood that the undergraduates were returning home after the school announced a break for the forthcoming elections. Their bus was said to have caught fire and got burnt beyond recognition, leaving eight dead and 10 other occupants seriously injured. Those injured were rushed to the Alex Ekwueme Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, the state capital, for treatment. When contacted by TheCable Lifestyle, Benedicta Egoyibom, an official of the institution, confirmed the incident. She, however, did not go into details, insisting the matter is under investigation. “Yes, it is true. The school is trying to gather more information about how the incident happened,” she said. JUST IN: Court Orders INEC To Resume Voter Registration

Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately resume Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) until 90 days before the 2023 general elections. Delivering Judgement, Justice Ekwo also directed INEC to ensure that eligible Nigerians are not deprived the opportunity to have the voters’ cards for the forthcoming poll. He held that it was the constitutional responsibility of the electoral umpire to make adequate provision for the exercise in accordance with the Nigerian laws. One Anajat Salmat and three others had sued INEC arguing that the electoral body cannot stop the voter registration contrary to the stipulated provisions of the constitution They urged the court to order the electoral umpire to resume the exercise in accordance with the law of the country. Ensure manifesto implementation, Chinese envoy tells parties

The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, on Wednesday, advised political parties to work more on implementing their manifestos rather than just saying it. Jianchun spoke at a seminar on ‘The 20th National Congress of COC: Outcomes and significance for Nigeria and Africa’ held in Abuja. Quoting a Chinese philosopher, the envoy noted that Nigeria needed a strong party to lead the country, stressing that “It is not about the planned manifesto but how it can be implemented.” Jianchun added that it was a welcome idea to have Nigerian political party leaders and other African leaders observed the Communist Party of China congress.   The envoy said, “I think it is a good idea. The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi says he will quit campaigns for the 2023 general elections if anyone can prove that he accepted land gift as governor of Anambra State. Running mate: Confusion engulfs APC, Tinubu limits search to Borno, Kano, Kaduna

  The   confusion over the choice of the authentic running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is deepening as he has returned to Abuja to continue consultations on the contentious issue. My academic certificates were stolen by unknown persons, Tinubu tells INEC

The APC presidential candidate failed to present his primary and secondary certificates to the electoral commission.   Asiwaju Bola Tinubu , the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election, has told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that his academic certificates were stolen by some 'unknown persons'. The former Lagos State Governor said the incident happened when he was on self exile. Recall that Tinubu, alongside other chieftains of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) fled the country to evade the persecution of the military government headed by the late  General Sani Abacha .
