The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday, in Abuja, said his regime had delivered change to Nigerians, especially in the area of affordable housing. Appraising his regime’s performance in office during the inauguration of a housing estate in Zuba, Abuja, on Tuesday, the President claimed that the new housing estate was addressing multidimensional poverty among the citizens. But the opposition parties described his claims as bogus, insisting that he performed woefully. Presenting keys to the new homeowners at the Federal Housing Authority, Zuba, Buhari said, “I convey my hearty congratulations to the new homeowners in this estate. Farm or die hungry, stop complaining – Buhari to Nigerians

 President Buhari has said Nigerians should farm what they eat or die hungry. The President said Nigerians have no reason to complain of hunger. He explained that his position was responsible for the decision to ban rice importation. Speaking with Tambarin Hausa TV, the president said Nigeria can still feed itself despite the floods that had affected farming communities. Buhari said the decision of his government to ban rice importation had led to the farming of rice. According to Buhari: “I took that decision to stop rice importation and said we should farm what we eat or die of hunger. “I said that since we have farmland and God has blessed us with rain, what reason does a Nigerian have to say he’s hungry? “If you are hungry, go to the farm. I’m aware that floods have ravaged some farmlands this season but we are still selling rice made in Nigeria, and we can feed ourselves.”

JUST IN: Buhari returns to Abuja from Liberia

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), arrived at his official residence at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday at 09:00 pm. Our correspondent who was on the ground spotted a retinue of escorts conveying Buhari into the premises from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Hours earlier, The President had been in Liberia where he was a Special Guest at the country’s 175th independence anniversary. In his goodwill message, Buhari stressed that the deepening of democracy and good governance are essential antidotes to unconstitutional change of governments in Africa. He also called on West African leaders to do their best possible to conduct elections in an atmosphere of trust, freedom and transparency. This, he argued, is the only way the sub-region can be insulated from the scourge of unconstitutional takeovers recorded in Mali (2021), Guinea (2021) and Burkina Faso (2022). Buhari’s visit to Liberia becomes his 13th foreign trip in the past six months.

AGF Malami Marries Buhari's Daughter, Hadiza

 The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, on Friday wedded  Nana Hadiza, the daughter of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) Hadiza is the third daughter from Buhari’s first wife, Safinatu and has just become Malami's third wife. According to TheCable, the private Nikkai ceremony took place at the villa. Nana Hadiza is 41 years old, a divorcee with six children.

Shiroro attack: Buhari vows to rescue captives, punish perpetrators

 The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Friday, said his government would do everything possible to ensure the return of those abducted in an attack on a mining site in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. This was as he described the attack as a direct assault on Nigeria which will not be allowed to go unpunished. In a statement signed on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President also paid tributes to the military personnel who lost their lives repelling the attack saying their effort will not be in vain. Buhari departs Abuja for Commonwealth meeting in Rwanda

  The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, will depart Abuja Wednesday, June 22, for Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, being held from June 20 to 26, 2022. At CHOGM 2022, the President will join other leaders to participate in discussions focused on the progress and prosperity of the more than 2 billion people living in the 54 independent countries in Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific that make up the Commonwealth. The theme for CHOGM 2022 is ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming,’ and the Heads of Government are expected to reaffirm their commitment to upholding the Commonwealth Charter, which focuses on democracy, human rights, the rule of law, as well as economic opportunities and sustainable development.
