BREAKING: Ondo Governor, Akeredolu Dies After Prolonged Battle With Leukemia

Ondo State Governor: Akeredolu The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is dead. A family source told SaharaReporters on Wednesday that Akeredolu died in Lagos. WEXERES learnt that he was managed by State House doctors up to his death because they could not fly him abroad. “Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos,” the source said. “They were looking for dialysis machines to be sent to his secret location in Lagos last week.” He was 67 years old.  The ailing governor returned to Nigeria in September following a three-month medical leave in Germany and only recently proceeded on another one after he was directed by President Bola Tinubu to hand over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Why Osinbajo chose Nigerian hospital for surgery— Presidency

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo chose to undergo a surgical procedure on his right femur (tigh bone) at a local hospital because “He had confidence in Nigerian doctors both at home and abroad,” a consultant who operated on the VP has revealed. WEXERES reports that Osinbajo, on Saturday, successfully underwent leg surgery on his leg at the Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos. The operation is “possibly related” to a longstanding injury associated with a game of squash, the VP had revealed in a tweet. LUTH petitions panel over failed surgery by cosmetic surgeon

The management of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, has urged the Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Investigation Panel to investigate the alleged professional misconduct of a Lagos-based cosmetic surgeon and owner of Med Contour Aesthetic Clinic, Dr Anuoluwapo Adepoju. The hospital, in a petition dated June 11, 2020, and signed by its Director of Legal Services, O. O. Olajide, accused Adepoju of professional misconduct during a surgery she performed on one Miss Nneka Onwuzuligbo at her facility. According to LUTH, Adepoju had continued to perform surgeries despite the fact that her facility was sealed off by the Lagos State Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency. In an affidavit attached to the petition, the hospital alleged that Adepoju referred the late Nneka from her facility to LUTH on January 3, 2019, on the pretext that she was being referred from the General Hospital, Odan. Osun records 14 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths

Osun State Government has confirmed 14 new cases of coronavirus and recorded two death from the pandemic. The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, in a statement, said with the development, the number of our active cases as of Saturday, July 4, is 95. Isamotu also disclosed that four patients were discharged from the state’s Treatment and Isolation Centre on Saturday after testing negative for the virus. The Commissioner noted that the new cases were discovered following contact tracing of previous cases in the State. He then enjoined residents to always observe all the precautionary measures laid down by the State against the spread of the virus. The statement read in parts, “With the latest development, the number of our active cases as at today, Saturday, July 4 is 95. We have 165 confirmed cases, out of which the State has successfully treated and discharged 63 patients while seven deaths have been recorded.”

BREAKING: Ex-Oyo gov Ajimobi is dead

The immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has died at age 70 after battling coronavirus-related symptoms for a month, WEXERES has learnt. Ajimobi, who was governor from 2011 to 2019, was named the Acting National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress last week but never resumed. The former governor was hospitalised at First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos on June 2, 2020. He was said to have tested negative for COVID-19 but the illness had caused his health to deteriorate. Ajimobi’s wife, Florence, had earlier been hospitalised with her husband. She was, however, discharged. He was said to be managing the illness at home before the situation worsened and he had to go to a hospital. Like other VIPs, he was said to have opted for private treatment rather than a public facility after his condition worsened.
