Soldiers shoot 15-year-old boy, keke operator dead in Lagos

COAS: Farouk Yahaya and Pelumi   The family of a 15-year-old boy, Pelumi Sulaimon, have been thrown into mourning after soldiers attached to Operation MESA allegedly shot him dead around Makoko, in the Yaba area of Lagos State. According to residents in the area, the soldiers were hired by political thugs to carry out a reprisal on their opponents in the community on Sunday, February 26. WEXERES News gathered that when the soldiers got to the community, they started shooting indiscriminately and in the process, a stray bullet hit Pelumi who was on his way to buy drinks for his friends to celebrate his birthday. The soldiers, who were led by a political thug identified simply as Nuru, were also said to have gunned down a tricycle operator, identified simply as Aloma, whom they mistook of one of their targets. Implement #EndSARS panel report, CSOs urge Soludo.

Network, led by Comrade Chris Azor, said that instead of implementing the recommendations, the government set up what it called Truth, Justice and Peace Commission. Azor, who was a member of the #EndSARS Panel, therefore, urged Soludo to act upon the Judicial Panel of inquiry report submitted in March 2022. “The state government in its effort to address security challenges in the State should, as a first step act on the report to ameliorate the various injuries suffered by victims and their families. “This should be fundamental towards achieving desired peace and security in the State and indeed the Southeast region,” Azor added.

BREAKING: Justice Tanko Muhammad resigns as CJN

  Justice Tanko Muhammad has resigned as the Chief Justice of Nigeria. Citing sources, Channels Television confirmed that he resigned on Sunday night on the grounds of ill-health. Running mate: Confusion engulfs APC, Tinubu limits search to Borno, Kano, Kaduna

  The   confusion over the choice of the authentic running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is deepening as he has returned to Abuja to continue consultations on the contentious issue. Supporters of the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Ejike Mbaka, have demanded the exit of the Bishop of Enugu, Callistus Onaga. Onaga had in a letter on Friday barred Catholics from worshipping at Adoration ministry, following recent public utterances of Father Mbaka. Ekiti Election: EFCC Arrests Persons Engaged In Vote Buying

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested persons alleged to have engaged in vote buying in the Ekiti governorship election. The EFCC is part of security agencies deployed to monitor the election. Parading some of the suspects at the Oke Ori Omi Area Division of the Nigerian Police Force, the suspects were said to have been caught with monies allegedly used to induce voters, an act the EFCC officials say were carried out surreptitiously. The EFCC thereafter proceeded to burst another residence where some persons were caught with a book containing details of voters of certain voting area.

Enugu Catholic Diocese Bars Faithful From Attending Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry

  A photo of Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, Spiritual Leader of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu   The Enugu Catholic Diocese has prohibited Catholics from attending religious and liturgical activities of the Adoration Ministry owned by the vocal Rev. Ejike Mbaka. Rev Mbaka had made the news when he made comments concerning the Labour Party presidential aspirant and one-time governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi. Mbaka said “A stingy man cannot be our president. We are already hungry. We need a generous person. Nigerians are hungry. Are we not hungry?” in reference to Mr Obi, who many speculated had refused to make monetary donations to the spiritual leader’s ministry. Atiku announces Okowa as running mate

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has announced Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election. He made the announcement on Thursday via his social media handles. Abubakar posted, “I am delighted to announce Governor Ifeanyi A. Breaking.... MC Oluomo has moved the entire 200 units of NURTW in Lagos state out of the national body.

Rising from an emergency meeting held at the Agege State Secretariat, chaired by MC Oluomo, he said all efforts to reconcile the differences with the National body failed and as such, Lagos body of NURTW  unanimously agreed to pull out of the national body today and remain independent. *Possible Repercussions:* National body will fight back as it still has loyalists with the Lagos state rank & file; and it could be bloody. Withdraw your troops from Ukraine, Nigeria urges Russia

The Federal Government has met with envoys of the G7 countries in Nigeria, expressing worries over the Russian-Ukraine conflict with a call for peace to resolve the conflict. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, met with the envoys on Friday in Abuja, saying that the Nigerian government called for peace and the use of diplomacy in resolving all differences. Onyeama said Nigeria does not condone the approach of aggression by Russia, calling on Russia to pull back. “Peace and diplomacy to be prioritised by both sides. “We support every effort being made to stop the aggression and Russian troops to return to Russia,” Onyeama said. Speaking to journalists after the closed-door meeting, German Ambassador to Nigeria, Birgitt Ory, who is also chair of the G7 Group, appreciated the African Union on its statement on the situation. IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu The leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, never denied being the leader of the Igbo nationalist organisation while taking his plea at a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has said. According to the lawyer, the clarification became necessary because of what he described as “deliberate misrepresentation/falsehood and wrong   narratives being perpetuated by some mischief makers” and gaining prominence in social media. Nigeria lifts Twitter ban after seven months

  Nigeria's government suspended Twitter last June after   the company deleted a tweet by President Muhammadu Buhari about punishing regional secessionists . Authorities accused the social media firm of siding with the secessionists. But the government said it was reversing the ban after Twitter agreed to conditions including opening a local office in Nigeria. Shonekan: FG orders national flag to fly at half-mast

  The  Federal Government has ordered that the national flag be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect for the former Head of State, Ernest Shonekan, who died on Tuesday, January 11. The order takes effect from the 12th to 14th of January, 2022, according to a statement signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha. 43 farmers killed by Boko Haram didn’t have clearance to farm —Buhari’s aide
