Four Soldiers Feared Dead as Suspected Drunk Driver Rams Into Them in Lagos

Four soldiers from Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos, are feared dead, while several others sustained injuries after a suspected drunk driver crashed into them. WEXERES News gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday during the soldiers' routine monthly road jog outside the barracks. An eyewitness, Priscilla, who resides in the area, told our correspondent that a Toyota vehicle carrying three young men was speeding before it lost control and plowed into the soldiers. She recounted that after the crash, the occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee but were caught by bystanders, who beat them severely and vandalized their car. According to her, one of the young men was stabbed during the altercation. “The accident happened this morning while the soldiers were on their monthly road walk. Popular Nollywood actor, (AGBAKO) Charles Olumo, is dead

Charles Olumo - Agbako  Veteran actor Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, popularly known as Charles Olumo, Agbako, has passed away.  This was revealed on Thursday in an Instagram statement by the President of the Association of Theatre Arts and Film Practitioners  of Nigeria (Tampan), Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin.  He wrote: "#tampanglobal announces the death of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, affectionately known as AGBAKO. Funeral details will be announced at a later date. Good night, Baba, 25th February 1923 to 31st October 2024."  Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko also confirmed Agbako's death, writing, "Good night, Baba Charles." Also known as  Agbako, 101 years old, Ba Wasa Ba. Rest in peace  Agbako is ranked 101st this year.

BREAKING: Emefiele to be arraigned in Lagos court Monday

Godwin Emefiele The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will Monday, April 8, 2024, arraign the embattled former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele at the Ikeja State High Court in Lagos for alleged abuse of office over allocation of billions of United States dollars. Emefiele, alongside his co-defendant, one Henry Isioma Omole, will be arraigned on 26-count before Justice Rahman Oshodi. The charge, marked ID/23787c/2024, dated April 3, 2024. was filed by Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN). EFCC alleged that Emefiele committed an abuse of office between 2022 and 2023 in Lagos. BREAKING: EFCC arrests Bobrisky for naira abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested and detained controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky, over abuse of naira, spraying of naira notes and currency mutilation. Bobrisky, who has been embroiled in several controversies over the past weeks, was arrested in Lagos on Wednesday night, and has since been detained at the Lagos Command of the EFCC. Confirming the development to our correspondent in a telephone interview on Thursday, the spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, noted that Bobrisky would be charged to court. Oyewale said, “Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. Nigeria detains Binance executives in cryptocurrency crackdown

Two senior executives at Binance have been detained in Nigeria as Africa’s populous country tries to rein in speculation on the naira by cracking down on cryptocurrency exchanges. The executives flew to Nigeria following the country’s decision to ban several cryptocurrency trading websites last week but they were detained by the office of the country’s national security adviser and their passports seized, according to people familiar with the matter. An adviser to the office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Binance declined to comment. Nigerian authorities have turned their focus to cryptocurrency websites after a rapid devaluation of the naira that helped drive inflation to an almost three-decade high of 29.9 per cent. Access Bank CEO Herbert Wigwe, others die in California plane crash

A chopper transporting Herbert Wigwe, the CEO of Access Bank and Access Holdings, has crashed with him and about five others aboard in California, United States. Access Bank CEO: Herbert Wigwe The chopper was headed to Las Vegas when it crashed Friday night near Nipton, between Nevada and California. United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in a statement confirmed all onboard are dead. FAA said no survivors had been found as of Saturday. “We were made aware of a downed aircraft at approximately 10:12 p.m., on February 10, 2024. The scene of the crash was determined to be east of the 15-Freeway, near Halloran Springs Road,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. The FAA identified the helicopter as a Eurocopter EC 130. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash at the time of filing this report.

BREAKING: Buildings destroyed as explosion rocks Ibadan

Girlfriend Shoots Policeman To Death In Imo

A 23-year-old lady, identified as Amanda Uchechi Ugo has reportedly killed a policeman attached to the Imo State Police Command, Cosmas Ugwu. It was gathered that Ugwu was shot dead on Tuesday by his lover, a native of Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of the State. Police cadet dies in academy, colleagues allege starvation

An 100-level course 9 police cadet, A.S. Jika, dropped dead at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, on Saturday, after being continuously starved and malnourished for over two weeks. Some of the cadets accused the Commandant, Assistant Inspector-General, Sadiq Abubakar, of high-handedness and financial mismanagement of feeding allowance meant for the students.
