Nigerian Troops At least 26 members of the Nigerian security forces were killed and eight wounded in an ambush by gunmen in central Nigeria late Sunday, two military sources told AFP. Additionally, an air force spokesman said a helicopter rescuing the wounded crashed on Monday morning in the area, where the army is fighting criminal groups, without specifying whether the crew and passengers had survived. ALieutenant Colonel of the Nigerian Army, N.B. Ahmed has been abducted following an ambush on a military convoy by gunmen suspected to be terrorists. A Nigerian soldier, identified as  Daniel Odih , has been killed by Boko Haram terrorists in Abuja just four days after his mother was murdered in Benue State. Daniel was one of the soldiers killed during an attack on a military checkpoint near Zuma Rock on Thursday night, July 28. It was gathered that the terrorists arrived Zuma Rock around 8:30pm and opened fire from different angles at the soldiers stationed at the checkpoint between Abuja and Niger State. Bandits have attacked a mining site in Niger State and reportedly killed security agents, civilians, and kidnapped three Chinese nationals. The attack was said to have occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Ajata, Aboki in Gurmana ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.   The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said 314 suspected members of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province have surrendered. They were said to have surrendered to troops in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State as a result of the ongoing offensive onslaught against terrorism in the North East. According to a terse statement by the Army, 12 farmers were also rescued by troops. “Profiling of the surrendered terrorists is ongoing,” the statement added.
