A chopper transporting Herbert Wigwe, the CEO of Access Bank and Access Holdings, has crashed with him and about five others aboard in California, United States. Access Bank CEO: Herbert Wigwe The chopper was headed to Las Vegas when it crashed Friday night near Nipton, between Nevada and California. United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in a statement confirmed all onboard are dead. FAA said no survivors had been found as of Saturday. “We were made aware of a downed aircraft at approximately 10:12 p.m., on February 10, 2024. The scene of the crash was determined to be east of the 15-Freeway, near Halloran Springs Road,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. The FAA identified the helicopter as a Eurocopter EC 130. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash at the time of filing this report.

Eight students of Madonna University in Rivers state have reportedly been burnt to death in a road accident. The incident was said to have occurred along the Trans-Saharan road in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state, on Saturday while the students were travelling to Taraba state. It is understood that the undergraduates were returning home after the school announced a break for the forthcoming elections. Their bus was said to have caught fire and got burnt beyond recognition, leaving eight dead and 10 other occupants seriously injured. Those injured were rushed to the Alex Ekwueme Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, the state capital, for treatment. Seven persons have been burnt to death along the Sagamu-Benin Expressway, emergency officials said on Wednesday. The accident occurred at the Odogbolu junction of the expressway after a Mazda bus – with registration number AGL 886 YD – suddenly went up in flames due to engine oil overflow. A police helicopter which took off from Abuja has crashed at the Bauchi Airport, the Accident Investigation Bureau said on Thursday.
